Siemens Sanat continues to support young talents in contemporary art

The "Borders Orbits 04" Exhibition Opens

The works of second set of young talents who found successful in second "Borders - Orbits" competition, initiated last year by Siemens Sanat to discover young talents in contemporary art, are meeting art lovers in "Borders Orbits 04" exhibition.

The exhibition contains the works of the young artists Seçil Alkiş, Güler Aşık, Sena Başöz, Kerem Ozan Bayraktar, Çınar Eslek, Cemile Kaptan, Sema Kayaönü, Selin Kocagöncü, Elif Öner, Ayşe Topçuoğulları.

The works in the exhibition "Borders - Orbits 04" which took place after the competition open to all graduate and postgraduate students regardless of their majors mainly consist of painting, installation and videos.

Mürteza Fidan, one of Siemens Sanat's curators, states that the concept of the exhibition comes from the fact that every global economy has developed politics of culture to correspond to their own existence especially after the second half of the 90's. Mürteza Fidan says this is a new paradigm: "Every paradigm causes one centre to disintegrate and new centers to form. Every new centre contains many paradoxes and conflicts within itself. For reconstitution one must also be ready for destruction".

Pointing out that Turkey is one of the most important centers of gravity of both the economic and cultural logistics of globalization, Mürteza Fidan states that in our country, where the social reality of modernity does not find its reflection, we face the rupture of homogeneity formed by multiple representations resulting from the collapse of the cultural pedestals of the concept.

Mürteza Fidan adds: "At the same time head spinning developments in technology are reflected in everyday life as definitions of life; this everyday life appears to us as another rupture of the fabric of society in which human relationships are not experienced directly but instead become distant, giving way to exciting representations".

"Borders Orbits 04" is open between 25th June and 31st July, everyday of the week between 10:00 and 19:00 at Siemens Sanat.
